How to enter Wicked Brush

Wicked Brush takes place at Ironweld, Summer Slaughter and Everwinter. To enter, pick up a Wicked Brush Entry ticket at at checkout. Each entry requires a separate Wicked Brush ticket. Multiple entries encouraged. No single model can compete in multiple categories. ALL entry fees collected from our painting competition will be donated to charity.

Master


Experienced painters who have many (many, many many) hours at the painting desk. Those who would like their painting judged at a higher level are encouraged to enter the Master Division.

Standard


New and aspiring painters or those who game more than they paint.

Categories

Our miniature painting competition consists of four major categories.*

Single Miniature


A single miniature up to 54mm scale.^

Entry may contain small ancillary models (pets, familiars etc). Models mounted on “horse” or “bike” type mounts are included in this category (some larger scale mounted models will be included in Large Model).

Examples: Stormcast, Space Marines, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Shatterpoint, Historical Cavalry

Large Model


Monster or Vehicle models, single miniatures of a scale larger than 54mm.

Examples: Neferata, Angron, Dreadnoughts, AT-ST

Squad/Unit


Three or more miniatures forming a cohesive squad.

If models are not mounted on a common base we ask that a basic base/tray be provided to help with transport and display.

Open


Dioramas, Busts, anything that does not fit in the other categories. All scales, and subjects are accepted.

* Based on entries and at the discretion of the judges if there are a small number of entries some categories may be combined.
^ Scale is the ratio of the model to full size, for example AoS is 28mm, Shatterpoint is 40mm, Legions Imperialis (Epic 40k) is 6mm

Wicked Brush FAQs

You can drop off your Wicked Brush Entry at Registration.

Yes! For Ironweld and Everwinter, a Convention Pass is required to enter the event. For Summer Slaughter 2025 a Convention Pass in NOT required.

Each entry requires a separate Wicked Brush ticket. Multiple entries encouraged. No single model can compete in multiple categories.

Judging will take place between 12pm – 5pm Saturday during each of our Wicked Dicey events, with the finalist entries receiving their medals after 12pm on Sunday.

Entries can be retrieved after the conclusion of the Award Ceremony at 2pm from the display area.

Wicked Brush is the official miniature painting competition of Wicked Dicey, held three times a year at Summer Slaughter, Ironweld and Everwinter. It celebrates creativity and painting across all levels of hobbyists

Anyone with a convention pass and a Wicked Brush ticket can enter. Painters of all skill levels are welcome, from first-time hobbyists to seasoned veterans

There are two divisions: Standard for newer painters and hobby-focused gamers, and Master for experienced painters who want their work judged at a higher standard

Entries can be submitted in four categories: Single Miniature, Large Model, Squad/Unit, and Open (for dioramas, busts, or unique projects)

Yes. Artists can submit multiple entries, but only one entry per category will be considered for awards

All models must be painted by the entrant. Miniatures can come from any company, be 3D printed, or even hand sculpted. Decals and small printed items are allowed but not encouraged

Artists are encouraged to pre-register using the Wicked Brush registration form, sent after purchasing a ticket. On-site registration is available but not recommended

Judging takes place on Saturday night by Wicked Dicey staff and select guest painters. Entries are judged on technique, creativity, and overall presentation
